Happy Mother's Day!

What would we do without the love and kindness we learn from our mothers and grandmothers? Here are mine, along with my grandfather who's waiting for us in heaven.

It's a Gator Saturday

This is certainly my favorite time of the year, with the air turning cool and clean, the days getting shorter, the food getting warmer and college football on the TV.

So I'm shrugging off my worries and tuning in to the Gators versus the Crimson Tide. Go Gators!

What kind of car would you be?

Find out by taking the quiz here.

I'm a Ferrari 360 - "You've got it all. Power, passion, precision, and style. You're sensuous, exotic, and temperamental. Sure, you're expensive and high-maintenance, but you're worth it."

I'll buy that! Not the car, of course, but the profile...

The BLT Salad

I'm sitting here craving a BLT, the world's GREATEST sandwich of all time. And as I was pondering its perfection, I came across a recipe for a BLT salad with buttermilk dressing. The very idea made me lightheaded! The recipe calls for very few ingredients and it looks super simple to make. Click here for the link.

Try it and let me know what you think!

Abbey, Our Princess Kitty

January 8th we lost our Abbey girl. She was 16, so she had a long life filled with kisses and cuddles and fun play sessions with Jake. But that doesn't make losing her any easier. I miss her all the time, everyday, just like I miss my Jakey boy.

Dying blows. I hate death. The only thing that gives me any comfort is the faith I have that I will be reunited with ALL my loved ones when my time comes. I just hope she knows how much we still love her and that she's up in heaven playing with Jake right now.

Goodbye for now, my little Peeper. All my love until we're together again!

Let the Healing Begin. Super.

As if I didn't know already, my Leadership class has confirmed that I do have hostility and anger issues as well as a problem with emotional self-control. Doesn't that sound attractive? No? Well, I don't think so either.

So although I've often made fun about stuff like this I've decided to try and discover the "triggers" that set me off. I'm going to do this through journaling and I'm going to use this blog as my journal. I hope you will keep me on the straight and narrow with this thing, and call me on the carpet when you see that I'm trying to kid myself, which I honestly hope not to do.

The End of the Semester Crunch

Ugh. I've got a final exam tomorrow, a paper due this Sunday and my last final on the 13th. Needless to say, right now I'm focused on studying.

Aside from the studying, however, Ola's dad is arriving tomorrow and staying until Thursday. I won't be here much, since I've got evening classes on Monday and Tuesday, but we'll be able to have a holiday meal together on Wednesday night. We'll be serving ribbe, a traditional Norwegian pork roast with crackling. I'm REALLY looking forward to it as I've never made it before. Also on the menu will be surkaal, sweet and savory sauerkraut, gloegg svisker, or prunes stewed in mulled wine. Want to join us?

Back to the books!
